About 20 Sweaters blog

Welcome to 20 Sweaters in 20 Years, a name born from a simple yet profound question I asked myself: "How many years do I have left, and how many sweaters can I knit in that time?" Actually I said jumpers but that because I am an Aussie living in Canada. My reflection was not about limitation – it is about intention. It is about making each project count, choosing patterns that I love to look at, and creating pieces that will be treasured by others I hope, for years to come.

Retirement has given me the time to fully immerse myself in the meditative qualities of knitting and other fibre arts. One of the things I love about knitting is its wonderful portability – it's the perfect travel companion, whether you're relaxing on a Mediterranean cruise, waiting for a flight, or simply enjoying a local café. The rhythm of the needles clicking becomes a familiar comfort wherever your adventures take you.

The "20 Sweaters" philosophy is about being mindful of our time and making conscious choices about our crafting journey. Maybe we will knit more than 20 sweaters, maybe fewer – but each one represents a chapter in our story, a period of creativity, and a testament to the joy of making.
